Pause A While Inc. was formed in 2011 as a 501(C))3 to manage the Pause A While facility in Orleans on Giddiah Hill Road.
It is important to note that Pause A While Inc. is not affiliated with any 12-step recovery program. Pause A While Inc. is an independent nonprofit organization. All Board Members and Officers are strictly volunteers, and they receive no compensation either directly or indirectly. There are no paid staff.
In 2021, the Board of Directors agreed that we needed to find a new home to continue to facilitate a recovery center on Cape Cod. We worked diligently for two years looking for potential properties that would keep us as close to the Orleans/Brewster area. At the same time, we worked on establishing a building fund to enable the purchase of a permanent home through the support of local banks, foundations and private donors, all the while continuing to maintain the current leased facility in Orleans to ensure there was never a day that there wasn’t a meeting place for folks in need. In November 2022, we secured our new home located at 250 Underpass Road, Brewster, MA. We worked on renovations to the first floor of the building to accommodate large group meetings and opened up The Pause A While recovery center on Saturday, February 4, 2023. The new facility provides us with twice the space we previously had and will enable us to hold multiple meetings seven days a week.

The mission of Pause A While Inc is to encourage the recovery from drug and alcohol addiction by providing a permanent place for 12-step recovery meetings.
